摘要
Context,a key concept in the field of sociolinguistics,pragmatics and ethnographicallyinspired studies of language use,is beyond a single,precise,generally accepted definition.After acritical review of some influential approaches to context studies,the present paper aims to fashion anew,dynamic approach to the phenomena of contextualization,one according to which text itselfgenerates a main resource for the organization of context.The contextual manipulation enablespeople to contest context to their advantage.
