The philosophy of 'Silence is gold' and 'few better than more' make Japanese in favor ofindirect expression and have the tendency of chiming in with others in the conversation. Thischaracterizes the feature of Japanese speech behavior. This feature prevents the Japanese studentsfrom participating in the class activity, demonstrates the disadvantage of learning Chinese and alsoleads Japanese students to misusage of the mood of expression when learning Chinese and also hasthe tendency of making the meaning of their expression uncertain.
