摘要
休谟的《英格兰史》讲述的是英国社会如何从古代的"野蛮社会"到1688年"自由社会"演化形成的故事。休谟通过对英国历史发展的描述与评析,揭示出社会的正义规则与政治权威在自由社会形成过程中相互依赖、相互制约的辩证发展关系。在这一过程中,商业、科学与艺术、民众信念、财产分配状况、各社会势力的分化等社会条件都会以不同的方式对"自由"的实现程度构成影响。休谟的《英格兰史》蕴含的是一种"现实主义"的自由发展观,其内在原理对我国政治秩序的发展形成仍然具有重要的启示。
Hume's History of England was a story about how British society evolved from an ancient 'uncivil society' to be a 'liberal society' in 1688.Through the description and assessment of the development of British history,Hume revealed the dialectical development relations between social rules of justice and political authority in the process of liberal society formation.In this process,business,science and art,people's beliefs,property distribution and the differentiation of various social forces influenced the degree of the 'liberty' realization.Hume's History of Englandimplies an idea of 'realistic' liberalism,the inherent principle of which still has important significance for the development of China's political order.
