世界主义在当今时代的意义

The Significance of Cosmopolitism in Contemporary Times

世界主义是当今西方乃至整个国际人文社会科学诸多学科领域的又一个热门话题和理论思潮,但是在中国的语境下,对之关注者却依然很少。笔者认为,世界主义虽然最早出现在西方并且已有了漫长的历史,但能够在当今全球化的时代逐渐凸显出来,与我们所讨论的另一些话题不无关系:现代性、全球化、民族主义以及民族和文化身份认同。这些都与中国当下的文化和学术研究密切相关。其实,早在中国古代的儒家思想就曾孕育着与世界主义平行的哲学和文化因子,而且作为一个引进的理论概念,世界主义曾于20世纪上半叶进入到中国,但在当时民族主义高涨的年代,讨论世界主义自然不合时宜。而在当下,中国的崛起已经成为一个事实,既然中国对世界经济、政治和文化都应作出较大的贡献,就应该坚持以负责任大国的身份出现在国际社会和领域,因而与国际学界就世界主义问题进行讨论、对话并发出中国学者的独特声音也就势在必行。

Cosmopolitism is one hot topic and theoretical trend in contemporary western world and the entire international field of humanities and social sciences. But there are rare scholars who pay attention to this in China. Although cosmopolitism emerges first in the western world and has been existing for a long time,it highlights itself in the time of globalization,which has something to do with other subjects such as modernity,globalization,nationalism,national and cultural identity. This is closely related with cultural and academic researches in China. In fact,in ancient China,Confucianism bred philosophical and cultural elements which are parallel to cosmopolitism. And as imported theoretical concept,cosmopolitism entered China in the first half of the 20th century,but at that time when nationalism was rising and popular,it was not proper to discuss cosmopolitism. But in the contemporary time when the rise of China has become a fact,it is imperative to discuss cosmopolitism with international academic circle and utter the unique voice of Chinese scholars since China should make great contributions to the economy, politics,and culture of the world and should emerge in the international society as a responsible power.
