There are two voices in response to the question of whether postmodernism is political or apolitical. One says it is political;the other views it as apolitical. In reality,a careful study will help us find that politics,to the former voice, refers to the politics in its traditional sense,i.e.,macropolitics,which is based on grand narratives, while to the latter it just means micropolitics, which is built on little narratives.Postmodernism, defined 'as incredulity toward metanarratives' as Lyotard did, naturally takes up,in its practice of politics,'anything goes'-the 'simple enough message' that postmodernism has-which embraces difference, diversity and pluralism in opposition to unity, totality and totalitarianism.
