Describing the dilemma Chinese Canadian youth face in inter-racial romances,Chinese Canadian writer Marty Chan's signature play Mom,Dad,I'm Living with a White Girl shows their perplexity in pursuing cultural identity.By mimicking American comic series Yellow Claw,this play not only deconstructs the old stereotypes of Chinese,but also reveals that the newly emerging stereotypes have hindered Chinese Canadian youth from blending into the mainstream society.The male protagonist's choice in the end suggests that only by discarding the dichotomy of East vs.West and drawing merits from both,can young Chinese Canadians find their own way.In this light,Chan's play looks into the future of Chinese Canadian youth.
