颠覆背后的含混——论温顿作品中的女性意识 被引量:8

摘要 当代澳大利亚著名作家蒂姆.温顿的女性意识一直是评论家争论的焦点。他的作品中的男性大多软弱无能,敏感情绪化,而女性则外表强悍,控制欲强,富有男子气概,给人一种母权至上的错觉。本文从女性主义的视角出发,以《云街》和《骑手们》为例,对小说的女性表现进行深入解读。论文着眼于女性的自我认同,女性的姐妹情谊,以及厄勒克特拉叙事模式阴影下的母女关系等几方面,指出温顿虽然对两性气质进行了颠覆,表示出消解男女二元对立的倾向,但是本质上还是个男权主义者,因为温顿小说中女性话语始终被嵌入男权话语模式,成了烘托男性形象,发掘男性自我的重要媒介。 Tim Winton's attitude towards women has always been in great controversy among critics.In his fiction,male characters are unconventionally weak and emotional,while female characters appear to be strong-minded and matriarchal.This paper examines women's ambivalent identities,suppressed sisterhood and the distorted relationship between mother and daughter in Cloudstreet and The Riders.The author argues that although Winton subverts ideals of masculinity and femininity in a pro-feminist way,he shows a strong male-centered view towards gender issues.Femininity in his work is subject to the invisible and disguised power of masculinity,which also explains why woman images in his novels are negative and dangerous.
