The Knowledge View of Newman and Its Revelation

纽曼在《大学的理想》一书中对知识进行了全面、深入的阐述,他的知识观是其高等教育思想的重要基础。本文从知识的特性、价值以及获得知识的方法三个方面对纽曼的知识观进行了解读,并在此基础上进行了客观理性的思考,得出其知识观是进步性与保守性并存的结论。

Newman expounded his views on knowledge deeply and comprehensively in the book-The Idea of a University.His knowledge view is the important foundation of his thought on high education.In this article,the interpretations on Newman's knowledge views are from three aspects: the characteristics of knowledge;the value of knowledge;the method of acquiring knowledge.Through impersonal and rational consideration,I myself draw the conclusion from the interpretation that the knowledge view of Newman contains both progressivism and conservatism,which are explained in this article.
