Solutions to Problems with Graduation Theses of English Program of Teachers Colleges in Ethnic Regions

由于学生、教师、教学和学校的投入不足,英语专业本科毕业论文质量出现下滑的趋势,表现为选题质量不高、研究深度不够、语言质量不佳、结构格式不规范以及抄袭剽窃现象严重等。提高毕业论文质量的对策包括:加强学生英语语言基本功训练,提高专业理论水平;改革课程设置,加强学术论文写作指导;适当延长论文指导时间;加强对指导教师的管理;加强过程管理,严格论文评审和答辩制度;加大经费投入,创造良好学术环境。

The insufficient investment by the students,supervisors,teaching management,and universities has resulted in the decline of quality of the graduation theses by the English undergraduates,which can be seen from the poor choice of the research titles,the poor research depth,the poor quality of language and styles,the poor structure and format,and the prevailing plagiarism.The suggested solutions include the following: to strengthen the basic training in the English language and improve students' theoretical levels;to reform the curriculum for the English Program and highlight the guidance for the academic writing;to prolong the time for thesis writing and guidance;to reinforce the management of the supervisors and the writing processes;to intensify the system of thesis appraisal and defense;and to increase the investment of teaching funds for the creation of a fine academic environment.
