文章对叶维廉《破“信、达、雅”:翻译后起的生命》一文的基本观点质疑 ,以严复译本《天演论译例言》为例 ,从阐释和解构的角度来认识“信、达、雅”的翻译理论 ,反对以照搬西方的学术观点来误解中国翻译理论的作法 ,旨在使翻译理论获得更深层的认识 。

This paper has questioned the truthfulness of William Ye' criticism on Yan Fu's three character translation standard “faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance”. It points out that while Ye is transplanting western literary theory into translation studies, he forgets to base his analysis in a Chinese context. The author believes that the ancient Chinese translation theory can be deconstructed and thus get an afterlife in the process of close reading.
