摘要
Harvard-Yenching Institute was founded in 1928 by Harvard Uni-versity and Yenching University on the Charles Martin Hall Edu-cational Fund, and named after the two universities. It followed along and tortuous course for Yenching to be formally decided asHarvard’s partner in establishing the institute. The rise of the na-tionalist movement in China deeply influenced the way Yenchingtook in building the institute and determined the unique role ofYenching therein.
