The Impact of East Asia Financial Crisis on World Economy and Its Future Trend

１９９８年，亚洲金融危机在持续、扩展和深化，并已演化为严重的全球金融动荡。它对世界经济产生很大的负面影响。不仅多数亚洲国家和俄罗斯出现了经济衰退和政治危机，拉美地区经济增长放慢，而且近几年增势强劲的美国和西欧也再不是“繁荣的绿洲”了。世界经济有滑向衰退的危险。国际社会对此极为关注，许多国家领导人及专家学者发出呼吁，要求主要发达国家立即采取措施，维护全球金融市场稳定，从而促使世界经济复苏，并从根本上改革现行的国际金融体制。１９９９年，亚洲经济形势可能有一定转机。

Abstract The financial crisis in East Asia, which continued, expanded and deepened in 1998, has turned into serious global financial turmoil. It has produced grave impact on the world economy. Not only most East Asian countries and Russia suffer from economic recession and political crisis, Latin American regions the slowing down of economic growth, but even the United States and West Europe which have enjoyed vigorous growth momentum in recent years are no longer “ flourishing oases” . The world economy is in danger of sliding into recession, which the international community follows with great interest. Leaders, experts and scholars of many countries sent calls, asking major developed countries to take immediate measures to stabilize world financial market so as to revive world economy, and reform the present international financial system thoroughly. The economic situation in East Asia might see a favourable turn in 1999, but we can not be so optimistic about the world financial and economic prospects.
