Exploration on of the Prehistoric Cultures in Macao and Zhuhai

澳门位于珠江口西侧。澳门地区由澳门半岛、凼仔岛、路环岛组成。澳门半岛与珠海拱北陆地相连。事实上,澳门、珠海及目前仍孤悬于珠江口的一些岛屿,在一段相当长的时期都与大陆相连。据地质学的研究结果,在距今1万多年以前,海平面比现今低100多米,到距今8000多年以前,海平面还比现今低20多米,南海海面达到现今的高度是在距今6000年左右,这时的珠海和澳门才成为孤悬于海中的岛屿。但是,到距今4000年左右,澳门已成为半岛,连接珠海与澳门的莲花茎已经形成。

The exploration began in the late 1950s of the 20th century. Two kinds of ancient sites have been discovered so far, some on hills but most on sand dunes. The earliest an an- cient site found in the Macao and Zhuhai area is dated to six thousand years BP. The arti- cle is appended with a list of pre-Qin sites found or excavated in the area. It can be said that as early as six thousand years ago, some islands and coastal sand dunes began to wit- ness a regular inhabitation of our ancestors with a lot of maritime experience. They were closely related ethnically and culturally with people living in northern Canton and even in the streams of the Changjiang. These earliest cultivators of Zhuhai and Macao created a pe- culiar maritime culture.
