Trial analysis on prehistoric trepanning in XinJiang

摘要 本文通过对新疆地区史前头骨穿孔材料的介绍,分析了这种民俗 行为的方式、目的,认为新疆及相关地区头骨穿孔的目的是从死者头骨上取下一 个规范的圆形或方型骨片,保存或佩挂在身上,以起辟邪和护身符的作用。 Trepanning is the holes that were perforated in man's skulls using specified way by ancient people for certain purpose. This is the kind of cosmopolitan cultural phnomenon. In our country, trepanning was found in prehistoric tombs in Xinjing. The essay analyses the trepanning's Way and purpose in this area through presenting a great quantaties materials and consider that the trepanning found in Xinjiang and the interrelated area is basically formed by digging through for taking a square or round tidy sheet of bones from the departed's skull. The essay also considers that the treparnned individuals were the ones died in different wars. People at time gave these skulls of the dead in battles a special intelligence. The living preserved or wore the sheets of bones taken from the skull and the sheets of bones had turnde into the phylactery or amulet. This phenomen has important values for thorough studying on the prehistoric primitive religion in Xinjiang.
