由于印尼国内金融危机引发了经济危机、政治危机和社会危机，使得印尼成为受１９９７ 年金融危机危害最深、受害时间最长的国家。１９９８ 年印尼经济衰退到最低点，经济增长为－ １５ ％ ，１９９９ 年的经济增长估计仍为负数。可以肯定：印尼将是这场危机中经济恢复最慢的国家。这是因为国内经济、政治和社会问题的解决，直接影响到印尼经济的恢复。但这些问题的解决都需要时间。
