面对严峻的国际经济形势,今年北京市对外经贸工作取得一定进展。上半年,实际利用外资继续增长。外贸出口回升显著上半年市属企业完成进出口总额为34.89亿美元,同比增长19.8%。其中出口13.21亿美元,虽然比去年同期下降3.4%,但降幅逐步缩小。1月末降幅高达22.4%,3月末为10.4%,6月末为3.4%。从贸易方式看,一般贸易出口6.84亿美元,同比增长17%;
Beijing City made progress in foreign trade. Its export and import volume reached $3.489 billion in the first half of 1999, rising by 19.8% from last year's figure. Imports in this period grew by 40.6% to $2.167 billion. Exports shot at $1.321 billion, down 3.4%. However, the declining is slower every month, from the 22.4% in January to 10.4% in March to 3.4% in June. Beijing's general exports grew by 17% to $684 million, while processing exports decreasing by 166.5% to be $599 million. Exports from state-owned enterprises went down by 0.6%, and that of overseas-funded ventures lowered by 6.8%. Exports of machines and electronic products valued at $520 million, declining by 12.5%. That of garments rose by 10.3% to $332 million. Beijing's exports to Japan, the United States and Russia grew 4.4%, 1.7% and 98% respectively. The utilization of overseas capitals in the first half year increased by 3.7% to $1.37 billion, completing 62.3% of the planned $2.2 billion in 1999. There are 309 overseas-funded businesses approved, which leveled the figure of the same 1998 period. New contracted capital reached $986 million, down 4%. Investment from Asia, Europe and the U.S. declined evidently by 31%, 8% and 30% each. However, some nations and regions put more money into China. Investment from Latin America increased by a remarkable five times. Investment from Taiwan, Korea and France were up 91%, 1.65 times and 1.86 times respectively. Most of the increase came from money added to signed projects, with another $525 million, 53.2% of the contracted capital, being added into the 17 existing projects.
