宋金元肘期,河南、山西、河北一带盛行仿木结构砖雕墓葬,这类墓葬有三个突出特点:一、墓室为砖雕仿木结构,模仿人间居室建筑样式雕造。二、墓葬装饰多采用乐舞场面。三、墓主人身份都是没有功名的平民。这些墓葬大量使用市井流行的乐舞样式作为建筑装饰,直接反映了当时民俗文化的发达景况和各门类表演艺术的历史演变状况。

A brick tomb simulating the wooden structure was quite popular in Henan, Shanxi andHebei during the period of Song, Jin and Yuan. Three things characterize such tomb. Theyare a tomb chamber in the form of a real house of a wooden structure; decorations showingmusical and dancing scene; tomb owners who in most cases were ordinary people with norank and position. Tombs as such are quite luxuriously exquisite and superb given the ordinary status of theirowners. This in fact was unparalleled before and after in Chinese burial history. The extensiveemployment of musical and dancing scenes in the decoration attests to the flourishing of popularculture and art during the period.
