摘要
This paper is an investigation of the grammatical function of the function word "·zhe" by way of studying the grammatical meaning of "X zhe (O)" as a whole. Through analyzing and comparing a large corpus, the author finds that "X zhe (O)" bears some characteristics parallel to those of stative adjectives in Zhu Dexi’s account in both grammatical function and meaning. Hence the paper concludes that the grammatical meaning of "X zhe (O)" is to express "being in a certain state" and the grammatical function of "·zhe" is basically to indicate stativization.
