昭明太子《文选》编撰前曾有两部诗歌选本《诗苑英华》与《文章英华》 ,分别出自刘孝绰和萧统之手。考察两书的编撰情况及其体例、标准等文学思想在《文选》选文定篇中不同的反映 ,可以使我们明白《文选》编撰的灵魂人物是昭明太子萧统 。

Before Prince Zhaoming compiled the Selected Essays,there appeared Best Poems and Best essays,compiled respectively by Liu Xiaochuo and Xiao Tong.By investigating the materials for compilation and the literary ideas of styles and criteria which were reflected in Selected Essays,we can make certain that the soul figure in compiling Selected Essays was Xiao Tong,the Prince Zhaoming.As chiefscholar of the court,Liu Xiaochuo's influence was limited.
