Language and Culture:a Study of Culture and Its Development from Language Differentiation and Fusion

本文认为；1．不同的地方文化往往会在各地的方言中打下自己的烙印。因此，方言是考察文化及其发展变化的宝贵材料。2．分析语言的社会变异可以确定说话人的地位、职业、年龄、性别，同时还可以确定交际双方所处的是一致关系还是权势关系。3．对某一语言中源于其他语言的底层语言成分进行研究具有重要的意义，它有助于揭示文化史上被掩盖着的大量事实。本文用各种论据对上述观点进行了论证。

Three points are discussed in this paper: (1) Different local cultures are often reflected in different dialects. Therefore, dialects are valuable to the studies of culture and its development; (2) The analysis of a person's speech variants can help identify his or her social status, occupation, age and sex. This analysis can also help reveal his or her relations with others; (3) To study the language substrata coming from other languages is very important. It contrihutes to the discovery of some concealed cultural phenomena. The writer expounds the above views with abundant evidence.
