中国翻译界十年(1987──1997):回顾与展望

A decade of debates over translation in China and its lessons

论文总结了中国翻译界最近十年（１９８７－１９９７）围绕四个问题所展开讨论，即继承与引进、理论与实践、科学与艺术和归化与异化之争。作者认为，两种表面看似对立的观点，通过辩论，一方面自我完善，一方面又互为补充，这是中外翻译理论发展的普遍规律。

This paper intends to sum up the tan-year (1987-1997) debate over translation in China. The debatecenters around four problems: the relationship between the inheritance of the traditional Chinese theory of translationand the introduction of foreign translation theohes; the relationship between translation theory and translationpraCtice; translation ---- a science or an ac; and the transference of cultural element in translation--alienation or adaptation. The conclusion is that through the debate the twO seemingly contradictory viewpoints areself-improved and complementary to each other. It is the universal law for the development of translation theoryboth in China and abroad.
