Twenty Years Later On Economic Progress of People's Republic of China

本文认为：中国共产党于１９７８年召开的十一届三中全会为中国社会主义的发展、经济体制改革的成功和对外开放的推进奠定了基础；邓小平作为当代中国之父，为建设有中国特色社会主义指引了方向和道路，为中国社会和经济的成功发展做出了巨大的贡献；１９７８年以后，中国在社会和经济的发展方面取得了杰出的成绩，特别是在亚洲金融危机和水灾的压力下，仍保持了国民经济的持续增长和人民币币值的稳定；

Abstract The 3rd Plenary Conference of the 11th Party Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1978 has paved the way for development in socialism, success in reform of economic system, and promotion of opening up to the outside world. It was Deng Xiaoping, founder of modern China, who had directed China into the course of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style, and made great contribution to China's social and economic development. Remarkable social and economic attainment has been achieved in China since 1978. An evidence of this is the fact that China was able to maintain steady and continued economic growth and guaranteed value of RMB in the face of the disastrous flood at home on top of the financial crisis in Asia. With such tremendous attainment China will find herself at the threshhold of the 21st century.
