Abstract The extispicy records composed in four styles:inscriptions on liver models,omen compendia,extispicy reports and Hitttie oracles.Compared to legal texts,extispicy records are more convinced because of their religious recording purpose,simultaneousness with events occurrence,recorder's comparative independent position to the king,etc.On the other hand,the extispicy records tell historical truth.Their most important function concentrates on Akkadian history,to confirm the sequence of first five kings,to correct the traditional devaluation to king Naram Sin,to trace the process of collapse of the kingdom,ect.In addition,the extispicy records offer evidence to assure some legendary figures as true historical ones,e.g.Gilgamesh,Tiriga,etc.
