On the Trend of Science Education During the May 4th Movement

科学教育思潮是“五四”时期非常流行的一种教育思潮，其基本主张是：教育的首要任务在于传授科学技术知识并给人们以科学方法的训练，对于教育本身也必须用科学方法进行研究。它在促进中国教育迈向近代化、科学化的同时，也给中国的近代科学以及中国本土化教育道路的探索带来了一定的消极影响。

Science education was a very popular educational trend of thought during the May 4thMovement it proposed that the prime educational task should be teaching people scientificknowledge and that education itself should also be studied in scientific methods. The trend pro-moted the scientific modernization of Chinese education and at the same time it had some negativeinfluence on the Chinese traditional education.
