Modern western ethics has long been trapped in a cul de sac of deep crisis. Many ingredients in Taoism─a traditional oriental ideological system─can be utilized to cure modern ethics of its diseases. Using Taoism for reference can not only offer a solution to modern ethical crisis and provide modern ethical reconstruction with ideology but also exert a great influence upon the methodology of modern social control and the conceptual renewal of modern economic ethics.
