This paper studies the mythological and archetypal patterns in William Faulkner's the Sound and the Fury . It comes to the tentative conclusion that Faulkner's elaborate employment of the allusions is to reveal the novel's moral lessons by juxtaposing the mythological and archetypal allusions as references.
