A Recollection of the Traditional Opera

五十年代初中国戏曲的辉煌。戏曲成为决策者进行一次又一次巨大实验的天地之一:加速社会主义改造过程;引蛇出洞;全面推向为无产阶级政治服务的轨道;文化领域的极权主义。七十年代末中国历史揭开新的一页,中国戏曲新的时期开始了。

The beginning of the fifties of the 20th century was the golden age of Chinese traditional opera. The traditional opera was an area of the grand experiments practised by the decision-maker once and again: speed up the ideological remoulding of socialism; lure a prey into a trap; promote the service to the proletarian politics; practise the totalitarianism in the region of culture. At the end of the seventies, a new page of the Chinese history as well as of the Chinese traditional opera was turned over.
