AbstractThe recent financial crisis in Asia has cast a shadow on the halo of 'Pacific Century' manifesting that how to cope with opportunities in a proper way is becoming a great challenge to each country in the world. The disarray in the international industrial restructuring was the initiator of Asia's financial crisis. The United States was far ahead of other countries in industrial restructuring, but the center of the industrial transformation was not in the Asia Pacific area; Japan, though once led East Asia, Southeast Asia and other areas with a geese-flying formation development model, was slow in industrial promotion, and this weakened its industrial advantage and intensified the competition between Japan and other countries. Apart from the above economic reasons in triggering the financial crisis, there are also some non-economic elements which should not be ignored. It was short-sighted to completely deny the Asian model just because this financial crisis. After all, Asian economy is sure to recover, but it will undergo a long and even bitter period of adjustment. And an 'Asia's economic miracle' could still be expected.
