Abstract The socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics has the striking features of the primary stage of socialism.It is an important part of Deng Xiaoping Theory and great improvement of scientific socialism.It integrates theory with practice,the spirit of the age with nationhood,and variety with the leading feature.These distinctive features result from the practice of the socialist modernization of China,the echo to our age,the outcome of the inheritance of the wholesome traditional Chinese culture,and the reflection of the social life in contemporary China.We should insist on putting the socialist ideology in the first place and meet the new century open mindedly.
