Rationality of science reconsidered

本文揭露和否定了基础主义和现代哲学主体合理性,试图在吸收库恩和图尔明关于科学实践的集体性的见解的基础上,以科学活动的集体性质作为最基本的因素,来说明科学的合理性.

The article puts forth the suggestion that rationality of science should be explained in terms of the collectiveness of scientific practice ,based on what the author understands as the main trends in the philosophy of science and what incorporated in T. Kuhn and S. Toulmin's attacks on foundationalism and formal rationality. Rationality of science does not amount to the collectiveness of science;yet,the lattet is most essential to the former. To account for the rationality of science in the light of its collectiveness is not to welcome such ideas as subjectivism, relativism or irrationalism; the most practical and effective way is to depart from them.
