排球竞赛中的“自由人”是新生事物．“自由人”的作用在于加强后排的防守力量，提高排球竞赛的观赏价值，增强排球运动的生命力，同时也体现排球竞赛规则修改的主要方向．

Freeman is a newborn thing in volleyball match. The role of a freeman is to strengthenthe back defence, to improve the enjoyment of a match, to enhance the vitality of volleyball, and alsoto demonstrate the general direction of amending the rules of volleyball match.
