摘要
1979年初春的一天,我去看望苏秉琦先生。他跟我谈到他去烟台和长岛的情况,说那里是个好地方,既是连接山东和东北的桥梁,又是通向朝鲜和日本的门户,考古工作应该大有可为,鼓励我不妨去试一试。不久,烟台地区文物管理委员会的李步青和李经章等来到北京,带了许多新石器时代的陶片和石器等标本,一是让我看后想听听我的看法,二是想邀请我到胶东地区做点工作,我答应先去看看。是年8月,我约社科院考古研究所的韩榕一同去烟台。
Jiaodong,or eastern Shandong was not only the link between Shandong and NortheastChina,but the door to Korea and Japan. The area is unique in terms of it ancient uniqueculture. Since the end of the 1970s Beijing University and local archaeological departmentshave done a lot of work and organized several symposiums,culminating in the preliminaryestablishment of the archaeological evolutionary sequence in the area. The Jiaodong archeol-ogy,because of its importance,has ranked among the major social science projects at a na-tional level during the seventh five-year plan.
