摘要
河南平顶山薛庄乡应国墓地出土的柞伯簋,是近年新发现最重要的西周早期青铜器之一,最近已经发表。该器出土后,在郑州曾蒙河南省文物考古研究所请先生惠示铭文摹本,得以试作释文。1994年,“纪念容庚先生百年诞辰暨中国古文字学学术研讨会”上,徐锡台先生论文《应、申、邓、柞等国铜器铭文考释》论及此器。1997年秋,柞伯簋在中国历史博物馆由国家文物局举办的“全国考古新发现精品展”陈出,我有机会仔细观察。现对簋铭扼要考释,同大家商榷。柞伯簋铭共8行,74字,依原行款隶写为:
Already published in Wenwu no. 9 1998, this vessel unearthed from a cemetery of the
Ying State at Xuezhuangxiang, Pingdingshan, Henan is one of the most important bronzes
of the early Western Zhou dynasty.
Its inscription of 74 characters in 8 columns relates that on the day of gengshen of Au-
gust, the king of Zhou held a ceremony of Great Shooting in the capital. He offered ten
gold pies for the winner of the game, and told Zuobo he could take them if he succeeded.
Zuobo shot the target all the ten times. Therefore, he was conferred with all the gold pies,
along with a set of musical instruments. To commemorate this event, he made this vessel as
an offering to his father Duke of Zhou.
