AbstractProceeding from a brief review of the history of the study of Adam Smith,the present paper sums up the points already achieved and probes into the two implicit binding conditions contained in Smith's ideological and theoretical system about “economic man',i.e. his internal binding:the limited rational and moral binding,and his external binding:the binding of the law.
