全国电大继续教育协作会第三次会议今年8月14日至8月18日在哈尔滨召开。这次会议有协作会的41个理事单位和部分地市级电大的主管继续教育工作的领导以及特邀嘉宾113人出席。这次会议的主题是“现代科技发展与远程继续教育”。会议的主要任务是学习、交流、研讨和项目推展。会议收到论文63篇。会议期间,8个省级电大的代表在大会作了经验交流和专题发言;中央电大还开展了项目推展活动,推出了“计算机在人员管理中的应用”、“世纪之交的全球企业发展”、“国际财务与会计证书”、“商务英语”、

The third meeting of the National TV University Coordination Conference on Continuing Education was held in Harbin, northeast China, from 14th to 18th of August, 1998. The subject of the meeting is Distance Continuing Education And The Development Of Modem Science And Technology. The main task of the meeting is to leam from each other, to exchange opinions, to deliberate problems and to develop projects. 113 were present at the meeting. Among them were representatives from 41 units of the council and those who had been specially invited. 63 theses were submitted to the meeting, which can be roughly divided into the following four categories: 1. Theses on the role that continuing education plays in the strategies of developing the country by relying on science and education, theses on the advantages of TV universities in undertaking continuing education, and those on learning society, on knowledge economy and continuing education. 2. Theses on the managerial mechanism, networking and the improvement of the academic level of the faculty. 3. Theses on the exploitation of new projects, the development of courses and the building of quality control systems. 4. Theses on the application of modem science and technology in continuing education. At the turn of the century, the change of situation has very close relation to continuing education. Distance continuing education in our country is the strategy to fulfill the task of developing the country by relying on science and technology, and is also an important work which provides economic construction with knowledge and intellectual supports. In their exchanges of opinions, the participants shared the same view, i.e., in carrying out continuing education, one must have sense of foreseeing, sense of crisis, sense of competitiveness, sense of service, sense of quality, sense of social benefit, sense of cooperation and sense of innovation. It is necessary to bring up an army of leading people who have devotion to their work and are capable and ready to devote themselves to the cause of continuing education of TV universities. In exploiting new projects, one must well handle the relations between the 'progressiveness and popularity', the relations between 'policy and sociality' . One must make full use of his advantages and characters, find out the popular interest of the society, try to win supports from the government. Only in this way can the exploited projects reach a certain scale and achieve considerable social and economic benefits. In recent years, the rapid progress of modem science and technology has a huge influence upon education so teaching and learning will have a revolutionized change. Modem educational technology has provide techniques for continuing education, life-long learning and individual learning. The application of modem science and technology in continuing education should become the task for the continuing education workers to further their exploration and practices. Although we have accumulated relatively rich experience in continuing education, yet, facing the coming of the new era, we need to meet the new conditions. We might meet with such conditions as the relation between TV university's degree education and non-degree education; the position of continuing education in schools; the communication between degree education and non-degree education; the target of continuing education; the operation mechanism of continuing education; the relation between continuing education and TV university faculty; the relation between carrying out continuing education and external cooperation and the understanding of the training of reemployment, etc. The vitalization of economy, the progress of the society and the advance of science and technology will provide TV universities with unprecedented opportunities for their development. So we must take quick and positive action to open up a new prospect for continuing education of TV universities.
