本文认为，林语堂后期文化思想的基本立场是以西方汉学的角度审视中国传统文化。在汉学心态的制约下，林语堂的文化现和小说创作呈现出一种体认西方知识系统的明显倾向。林语堂的汉学思维打上了近代以来西方霸权话语的显明烙印，同时也是中国现代知识分子文化选择的深刻印证。
