n a century,there are different opinions on New Yumen Pass within the boundaries of Guazhou (present day Anxi county) in the Tang douments.On the basis of investigation,the present paper comes to the following conclusions:The Pass is at Xiaogucheng of Maquan Village 24 kilometers northwest of Suoyang town. On the east side of the pass is Hulu river and 20 steps southwest of it is a big town of Jinchang (Changle county in Sui Dynasty). No historical data contain the date of the building of the pass. The present paper provides that the old Yumen Pass was abandoned in the 27th year of Jianwu of Eastern Han and the New Yumen Pass was built in the 17th year of Yongping. Finally,the paper will correct in passing mistakes about New Yumen Pass in historical data and poems with 20 examples.
