This article makes a critical analysis of Francis Fukuyama's views on the ‘end of history'.In his book,The End of History and the Last Man,Fukuyama considered the events such as the evolution in East Europe and the disintegration of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s and early 1990s not only as the end of the Cold War,but also as the end of history.Armed with historical idealism,he assered that this is the victory of Western democratic ideas.In his view,ideas are the ultimate motive power of history.The development of world history henceforth will only mean the extension of Western democratic ideas and will not undergo any essential change.Thus history has ended.The author of this article points out that Fukuyama's arguments are groudless.
