Some Basic Characteristics of Power in International Relations

本文论述了国际关系中权力的三个基本特征：一是权力的辩证特征，它表现为目的与手段、实在与潜在、客观与主观、绝对与相对的对立统一；二是权力的情境特征，它表现为权力的功用取决于特定情境下的权力关系与结构；三是权力的时代特征。

Abstract The present article discusses the three basic characteristics of power in international relations.The first is dialecticity,which is shown in the unity of opposite conceptions such as ends and means,reality and potentiality,objectivity and subjectivity.The second is contextuality,which means the functions of power depend on the power relations and structures in specific situations.The third is timeliness,which refers to the changes in meaning and focus of power along with the changes of time.
