On an Approach to the English Teaching and Learning for Specialties Concerning Activities Involving Foreigners

涉外专业的英语教学是个很值得研究的课题。本文阐述了提高涉外专业英语教学要求的必要性，以及涉外专业英语教学任务和目的。涉外专业英语教学可分为基础英语教学和专业英语教学两个阶段。涉外专业基础英语教学应着重培养学生的英语交际能力。基础英语后的专业英语教学，应把专业学习与英语学习有机结合起来，努力实现把英语定为涉外专业的“教学语言”

The English teaching and learning for specialties concerning activities involving foreigners deserves scholastic attention.This article discusses the need to set a higher standard for such English teaching and learning and suggests the task and goal involved.English teaching and learning for these specialties may be divided into two stages:first,the teaching and learning of essential English;second,the teaching and learning of specialized courses in English.Based on his own practice of teaching Comprehensive English Course,the author tries to show that the students should,in the fistt stage,learn to develop their English communicative ability,while in the second stage,the English learning and the specialized course study should be integrated into one program,i.e.specialized courses should be taught in English and explanations in Chinese are given only on special occasions.
