A Starting Point for Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Drama

中西戏剧的比较研究应该具有学科的整体性。本文认为,叙述与展示两个概念强调戏剧交流内外系统不同的功能,是区别中西戏剧的核心概念及其比较研究的逻辑起点。由此出发,我们不仅能够解释两种戏剧传统中不同艺术特征的历史连续性与逻辑统一性,还能为系统研究确立基本范畴。

The Comparative Study of Chinese and Western drama expects a disciplinary system. The two concepts ,Narration and Representation ,emphasising on the external and internal structure of the dramatic communication , can be considered both as the central concept of the different traditions and premise of their comparative study. In this Perpective, not only the characteristics and the logical unity of the two dramatic traditions can be explained,but also the categories of the discipline are determined.
