本文论述了国际公认的电视纪录片选题的三大范围,即:鲜为人知的外部世界,为大众关心的社会热点,普通人平凡而有意义的工作和生活。以及选择拍摄对象时应考虑的一些普遍标准如新鲜性、接近性、人情味、信息量、问题的普遍性和对象的可拍性。同时也谈及了中国当代电视纪录片在选题上的某些误区。

First this thesis expounds on the three universally recognized ranges from which the subjects of TV documentaries come: aspects of the external world unknown to most people, the topics or problems of general interest, and the ordinary but meaningful work and life of the average citizen. Then it discusses general criteria for choosing a subject, such as originality, human interest, sentiment, informative content, universality of problems and visual potential of the topic. Finally, it deals with some problem areas in selecting subjects for contemporary Chinese TV documentaries.
