Some Evidences from Kerala, India Large amounts of workers have emigrated from Kerala, India to Middle East countries since early 1970's. Taking this emigration as an example, this paper analyses the macro and micro impacts of international labor migration on socio-economic development. Special focus is given to the impacts of this emigration stream on family net, kinship, marriage pattern, women's status in the family, fertility and other social and psychological aspects.
