The author analyzes the American 1996 presidential campaign from a socio-cultural perspective and, by observing the politico-cultural phenomena on the American political scene, concludes that Bill Clinton well grasps the opportunity of a general return to traditional values in American society. His success is attributed to his modulation of stand and militant centrism in signing the Re-publican welfare reform bill and the support from the Afro -Americans.
