The Immigration Act of 1965 is an important legislation in the history of American immigration policy. Its implementation has made a great impact on Asian immigrants and Asian-American groups. The pouring of technical professionals from Asia into America in large numbers during this period has brought about important changes in the modes of employment, education and housing of Asian-Americans and thus enabled them to win the fame as a 'model' ethnic group. And on the other hand, as a consequence of the priority given to members of separated families, Asian immigrants have become uneven in quality, resulting in difficulties in employment and housing and in conflicts with other ethnic groups. These results were never foreseen by American policy makers.
