THE SOUTH ASIAN REGIONAL COOPERATION IN RETROSPECT AND IN FUTURE PERSPECTIVE

南亚区域合作近几年取得可喜的进展。七国首脑会议的召开和南亚区域合作联盟的成立是一个重要的里程碑。南亚国家面临经济发展缓慢,贫困落后的共同问题,有着发展民族经济,提高人民生活水平的共同目标,区域合作有很大的潜力。但是,南亚地区存在着错综复杂的矛盾,各国经济发展不平衡,内部经济联系十分薄弱,区域合作也面临一定的障碍和困难。

The South Asian regional cooperation has made gratifyingprogress in recent years.The summit meeting of seven countries which declared thefounding of the SAARC,was a milestone of great significance.South Asian count-ries are confronted with similar problems such as slow growth of the economy,povertyand backwardness,and they have common objectives for developing their national econo-my and improving the living standard of their people.Therefore there is an immen-ce potentiality for regional cooperation.Nevertheless there are some difficulties andobstacles such as complicated countradictions and imbalance of economic developmentamong South Asian countries,and the intraregional economic relations are very weak.
