摘要
本文旨在探讨高校英语专业“语言学导论”类课程的设置方法。文章通过小规模问卷调查掌握全国范围高校英语系开设该课程的具体情况以及学生对课程的反应 ,发现由于教育思想陈旧 ,该课程在设置中过于偏重语言理论的知识传授 ,忽视运用知识指导英语学习和使用的能力培养 ,从而导致开设时间、教材编著、教学内容、教学方法等方面的不足。文章在论证了该课程对英语专业本科生的必要性以后 。
This paper is a tentative probe for a better way of offering college English majors the course of 'Introduction to linguistics'. A small scale questionnaire survey is conducted to collect information about the situations of this course and students attitudes towards it in a number of college English departments all over China. It is revealed that emphasis on theoretical knowledge impartment and neglect of students ability development have led up to various deficiencies in teaching content and teaching methodology. After proving the necessity of this course to English majors, the paper proposes a series of suggestions for its improvement.
