Sound like Xiang-shan and more elegant —On lessons of Wu Wei-ye's narrative poems from Bai Ju-yi

吴伟业的叙事诗歌是继盛、中唐杜甫、白居易之后叙事诗的又一个高潮 ,他学习白居易诗歌反映现实生活 ,描写明清之际的时代画卷 ,同时又能够熔铸出新。内容上不但写“实事”而且写“史事” ,艺术上他不同于白居易的求俗而追求典雅 ,将抒情发展到极至 ,使其作品不脱文人诗歌的典雅蕴籍而风华自具 。

Tang Dynasty arose a flowery period of China's ancient narrative poems, with DU Fu, BAI Ju-yi as its representatives. The period between Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty was often considered as the other prosperous time of China's ancient narrative poetry and WU Wei-ye was hailed as the representative writer in that period.BAI Ju-yi was a writer of realism,and WU Wei-ye not only wrote about actual life with his poems but also historical facts,which eventually formed his own distinctive style with more elegant.
