摘要
本文通过对中国早期出版业的个案分析,阐述了当年的出版物如何传播和普及新知识给“新民”,藉此在都市社会滋养一种新时代的“气氛”,并由此论证了流行出版业对中国现代性构建的作用及意义.
<abstract>Based on the study of the publishing industry in China early this century and the role the publications played in introducing new knowledge and bringing about popular enlightenment,this paper tries to explain how the publishing industry has helped shaping China' s modernity.
