摘要
This paper compares the proesses of the rise of civilizations of the Huanghe River and Mesopotadria. It argues that they share five similar developmental phases. They are compatible in the development of material culture like stone tools, pottery, metallurgy, house structures,burials, as well as settlement patterns. Nevertheless, they are different in specific details. The two geographic regions were similar in nature but varied in forms of expression. In addtion,their major difference rests on their house structures. It indicates that they were different in the primary social units,the facely. It determined their developmental trajectories and gave rise to the important difference between the two civilizations.
